Before becoming one of the world’s hotspots for leisure, fun and culture, Ibiza was a land of farmers and fishermen. July 16th was marked on the calendars of its coastal towns for the celebration of Mare de Déu del Carme, the patron saint of sailors. The festival was full of singing and dancing, floral offerings, a church Mass and an emotional sea procession with the Virgin sailing on a boat, accompanied by a fleet of fishing vessels.

Mar y Sol is a historic fixture in Ibiza – a true classic that has remained relevant through the island’s journey from tradition to modernity. Open since 1940, it continues to be a must-visit spot, thanks to its prime location and unbeatable food and drink. It’s undoubtedly one of the island’s most authentic venues.
