Modern beauty is all about clean, consciously crafted products. The best brands combine natural ingredients with an ecological approach, working in harmony with our bodies and the environment.
Ibiza is home to a huge array of natural cosmetics. Many of its homegrown brands use local herbs and plants, sourced from its rich soil. Standouts include Laire by Irene Apolo, a range of therapeutic oils, ointments and creams created by an Ayurveda therapist and herbalist. Drawing on ancient traditions, each product is crafted with medicinal herbs and prepared according to lunar cycles.
Another island favourite is Botica Natural, created by Eleonora Bianchi. This nourishing line uses macerated oils and tinctures made with Ibiza’s wild plants and other quality ingredients as the basis for its skin and body care products. The range is available to buy at Las Dalias market and selected stores. And there’s Ibiza Softens Age, a high-performance beauty range by skin specialist, phytotherapist and cosmetic science formulator Isabel Dumas. The line is packed with natural ingredients from Ibiza’s land and sea. Dumas also offers workshops, which include a walk in Ibiza’s countryside collecting and learning about medicinal plants, before creating your own natural skin care and make-up products.
There are also high-quality eco-brands from further afield. Newly available in Spain is cult American hair and skin care label Monat, distributed in Ibiza by wellbeing therapist Donna Sami. These naturally based products are ethically and sustainably made and certified cruelty-free.
Also new to Ibiza is stylish Swedish brand Beauty Disrupted. This range of natural solid shampoo, conditioners and cleansing bars is made with renewable energy and replaces plastic with recyclable paper packaging. The range is available in Six Senses Ibiza spa, Gran Hotel spa and Raco Verd stores. Twenty per cent of profits from sales of its Ocean Magic line in the Balearics are also donated to Ibiza Preservation Fund’s activities protecting the Mediterranean Sea, helping to keep the island beautiful too.
