What is the point of any form of creativity if it isn’t seen and loved? We have absolutely loved creating this issue of NATIV, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed making it. We have to thank our incredible art directors who have excelled themselves this month with a cover that has just blown our minds – and sets the scene so perfectly for what is inside this edition of NATIV.
The issue is all about Ibiza, Formentera and creativity, and one thing we realized as it came together was how ibicencos have always taken pride in their island and welcomed visitors with open arms. Throughout history, Ibiza’s residents have recognized that for this incredible island to grow, evolve and survive it needs new settlers. With an openness and an acceptance of new people, and the freedom that Ibiza affords those people to explore new ideas, comes a vibrant culture.
That is why the theme of this issue is creativity. We would need a magazine a thousand pages long to cover all the creativity in Ibiza – and even then we would only be scratching the surface. Ibiza and Formentera are unique. With their energy, landscape, and people, the islands have an amazing ability to create a sense of freedom. With that freedom comes true creativity across all walks of life. Even the light in Ibiza is unique: artists speak of the island’s sol y sombra –its sun and shade– and how it brings a rare life and vitality to their works.
We all recognize that the world is changing rapidly. What is good to know is that we can rely on Ibiza to incubate and generate new ideas, new ways of seeing the world, and new ways of living.
