We know. Sunsets and Ibiza. As a pairing of words it’s right up there with champagne and caviar. Or salt and pepper. Just made for each other. But just because something’s familiar, it doesn’t mean it can’t be sublime.
Down on Cap Negret, the restaurant at Hostal La Torre (which, we should add, is also a seriously cool hotel) is the epitome of a sunset dining spot. Sitting on a clifftop looking out over the Mediterranean, your table-with-a-view is what a painter might sketch when asked to dream up ‘an ideal spot.’
Totally unpretentious – you can enjoy the view from the terrace or from one of the plush cushions strewn along the rocks – La Torre offers atmosphere and good food in abundance. Keeping the faith with a soundtrack of pulsing classic Balearic beats and a laid-back boho-chic vibe, it nevertheless pushes one thing forward – in the best possible way – the food.
Obviously, your evening should kick off with a cocktail: how about a La Torre Sunset? The burrata salad with cherry tomatoes and basil is an elegant, simple dish, fresh and perfect, while seabass with mushrooms in garlic and white wine is a real stand-out. And to accompany? Perhaps a bottle of Attis Mar for sipping and contemplating those views.
