Macao Café, the Italian restaurant with the best Veal Milanese in Ibiza, exclusively shares its secret recipe for this Italian classic with Nativ.

The restaurant is in Santa Gertrudis, one of those charming little towns that are typical on the island of Ibiza, full of shops, terraces and restaurants. It’s where you’ll find Macao Café, a restaurant with classic Italian cuisine, with a menu based on fresh pasta and artisan pizzas. In addition to their menu, there are always new specials and other dishes that the owners propose on a blackboard. Although all their dishes are delicious, special attention should be paid to the Veal Milanese, their specialty, and to the fresh focaccia.

The venue is charming and tastefully decorated: very cosy and not pretentious, with a pleasant terrace surrounded by trees and decorated with candles, ideal for a romantic evening.

The star dish: the Veal Milanese: How do you turn a simple piece of meat into a sublime experience? We carefully follow their recommendations.

Ingredients: veal steak, eggs, breadcrumbs, butter, olive oil.

To soften the meat and make it thinner, wrap it in cling film and give it a few taps.

Next, break the eggs into a shallow dish and lightly beat them with a little salt and freshly ground pepper. Put the breadcrumbs seasoned with a little salt on a large plate, and freshly ground pepper on another. Dip each steak in the beaten egg and finally in the breadcrumbs. Heat half the butter and oil in a pan and when hot add the veal. Fry for 3-4 minutes on each side or until crisp and golden. Ecco!

You have just learned how to cook a snack that is as simple as it is delicious. If you want to finish off the job, you can accompany the Milanese with this wine that we recommend: Sassella 2015 Valtellina Superiore from the Mamete Prevostini winery.

Enjoy!
