Talking about dealing with plastic waste is one thing, but Ibiza favourite Sa Caleta is very serious – and creative – with its recycling. Recycle, Reuse, Repurpose!

Hugely popular and family-run for over 30 years, Sa Caleta restaurant has been serving wonderful food and preserving the finest traditions of Ibizan cuisine for years. But it isn’t just food it cares passionately about: Sa Caleta is leading the way in the island’s fight against plastic with its innovative recycling. Plastic is made to stand the test of time, but sadly most plastic items are used just once. Globally, eight million tonnes of plastic waste are dumped into our seas and put precious marine wildlife in danger.

Sa Caleta owner Jordi Cardona takes sustainability and recycling seriously – perhaps his degree in marine science makes him see their importance more clearly – and does everything he can to make sure the plastic used at Sa Caleta is definitely not just single use. His way of taking almost all the plastic the restaurant uses and turning it into bowls and trays that can be utilized time and time again has inspired us to seek other innovative uses of recycled plastic. Expect to see more creative environmentalism from Sa Caleta in the near future!
