The visionary multimedia artist and teacher Roseline de Thélin has spent more than 30 years exploring the connections between creativity and consciousness. Now she’s expanding into new realms, with the launch of her NFTs and the opening of her vibrant gallery and events space, Art Lab Ibiza

Artist-explorer, therapist, teacher and visionary: Roseline de Thélin is hard to define. Her boundary-defying work traverses mediums, disciplines and genres, resisting neat categorisation in favour of exploring new frontiers.

Led by an innate curiosity, de Thélin forges bridges between art, imagination, science, philosophy and perception. Spanning everything from visual art to performance, sculpture and digital design – alongside creative mentoring and Expressive Arts teaching – she experiments with a myriad of artistic media and forms. Underpinning it all is her fascination with the connections between consciousness and creativity. Her extraordinary multi-layered works evoke surreal, dreamlike states, exploring the deconstruction and reforming of inner and outer realities.

Originally from the south of France, de Thélin arrived in Ibiza in the early ‘90s by way of an art scholarship in India. With a background in classical Fine Art and theatre production, she began creating jewellery and sculptural 3D designs combining lighting, crystals, mirrors and sacred geometry. Her work garnered international attention, leading to collaborations with renowned names including designer Kelly Hoppen and Buddha-Bar creator Claude Challe. In the mid-2000s, inspired by new fibre-optic technology, she made the first of her acclaimed Homos Luminosos light sculptures. The work captured the imagination of thousands, generating numerous pieces, private commissions and showings in exhibitions, festivals and museums around the world. Since then, de Thelin’s art has continued to evolve, encompassing collage, mixed media and innovative digital creations.

Inspired to explore new fields, de Thélin also dived into the world of therapeutics. A qualified Gestalt Art Therapist and Expressive Arts teacher, she now teaches a wide programme of in-person and online workshops and trainings in parallel to her own artistic enquiry. These take a multifaceted approach to healing and creativity, focusing on artistic expression as a tool for shifting perceptions and integrating new insights.

All fizzling, kinetic energy, in person de Thélin is equally as expressive as her artworks. This dynamism shows no signs of abating: alongside her luminous studio near to Santa Eulalia, she’s just opened a vibrant new gallery and arts space, Art Lab Ibiza, in Siesta, that will showcase her work and host live events, training and performances. She’s also excited by the infinite possibilities of the metaverse and is currently expanding her art into the realm of NFTs

What’s next? True to form, de Thélin refuses to be pinned down. ‘I co-create with the people, materials and world around me,’ she says. ‘So I stay open to what they inspire me to do. I don’t want to fix things; I need to leave space for the unknown.’
