With a menu full of fresh ingredients, bold flavors and authentic recipes, choosing what to eat at sa Caleta can be a delicious challenge. That’s why we asked Jordi Cardona –current owner and son of the founders of this iconic seaside restaurant at es Bol Nou – to share his perfect meal.

1. CAFÉ CALETA

Jordi starts at the end: “If there’s one thing you can’t miss at Sa Caleta, it’s Café Caleta,” he says of the restaurant’s legendary after-dinner drink made with brandy, cinnamon, sugar, orange, lemon, and of course, coffee. “It was my grandfather’s invention – a llaüt fisherman who used to impress his friends at the Sa Caleta port with this warm, spiced brew.”

2. ALMOND BISCUIT

A self-confessed chocolate lover, Jordi recommends a house-made dessert: “We toast the almonds ourselves, make the ice cream with almond and cream, and serve it over a bath of hot dark chocolate made from the best cacao. It’s the perfect finish – flavorful, rich and with just the right contrast.”

3. GUISAT DE PEIX

For the main course, he chooses a traditional Ibizan fish stew that takes him straight back to child-hood. “My grandmother made the best guisat de peix in the world. She’duse the heads of our favorite fish – grouper, scorpionfish, megrim… By the end, all that was left were the bones.”

4. IBIZAN-STYLE FRIED SKATE WINGS

And to start, Jordi goes with a fish he’s known since he was a boy – on the plate and out at sea. “I remember how proud we were when we caught one. Skinning it was a challenge – it looked like a samurai’s armor. Today, we serve it fried in olive oil, and its tender fillets always surprise people.”
