Teatro Pereyra

After a meticulous restoration project, the Teatro Pereyra is reopening its doors to become a new cultural reference point in Ibiza. This historic building, which for more than a century has hosted the island’s vibrant cultural life, returns with an ambitious new program, ready to mark a milestone on the Ibiza art scene.

Teatro Pereyra

This theater has accompanied us through the historical era of radical change for Ibizan society. In the words of its owner, Pedro Matutes Barceló, “if we were in Madrid, we would say that Pereyra is our Puerta de Alcalá, because, as the famous song goes, it appears to be “watching time go by”. Within these already venerable walls, five generations of islanders have enjoyed a wide range of leisure and art. It’s our own Cinema Paradiso, but with a better ending.”

A trip into the past with an eye on the future

Built in 1899, the Teatro Pereyra, is an architectural jewel with an eclectic style, combining neoclassical, modernist and Moorish elements. Its restoration has been carried out with the utmost care and the utmost respect for its original essence, while being equipped with cutting-edge technical facilities.

Its reopening represents an important boost for the cultural life of Ibiza. Its program, which ranges from performing arts to music and exhibitions, will turn this space into an essential meeting point for residents and visitors.

A unique show to celebrate the renaissance

The first major milestone of this reopening is Ibiza Hippie Heaven, a show conceived by one of the great creators of our country, Nacho Cano, and which will be held every day during this summer at sunset, lasting well into the early hours of the morning. Cano, who is a musician, composer and producer known for being one of the members of the pop band Mecano, has been associated with Ibiza for decades, and is now part of the Teatro Pereyra as artistic director. This sensory journey through music, dance and image pays tribute to Ibiza’s iconic hippie era and promises to provide an unforgettable audience experience.

What’s more, a casual and fun menu is on offer to complete the evening, with the focus firmly on flavor and texture. It’s an informal concept created specifically for the theater by the international chef Emiliano Crucely, designed to transport you with produce from both sea and land, allowing you to indulge in the most unexpected caprices.

The musical heartbeat of the theater

To complete its cultural offerings, the Teatro Pereyra has created The Pereyras, a band that will get you out of your seat. This group will be responsible for livening up the theater’s shows and events, while also offering its own concerts during low season.
